Awe and admiration for the simplicity and vast complexities of evolutionary relationships between species captivate Sarabeth Noggle, though she finds less excitement in humans. The subject matter of her work spans from memorial portraits to diary entries, involving sensory experiences like scratching and sniffing the air, the dirt, and the cycle of life and decay. For Noggle, her studio work serves as therapy. Immersed in the process of composing, she delves into transcending the boundaries of reality. Patterns emerge and evolve, or fade away, as she contemplates her identity and purpose. Amidst a myriad of realizations and misunderstandings, she hones in on completing each piece to her satisfaction, finding catharsis akin to turning a compost pile for fertilizer.
Sarabeth Noggle, originally from Nashville, Indiana, continues to reside and create in her studio nestled within the vibrant woods of the Youngman Nature Preserve in Brown County. She honed her skills at the Penland School of Arts and Crafts in Savannah, Georgia, and earned her BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2009. Currently, Noggle is actively involved in two galleries: she is a member of the Brown County Art Gallery and participates in group exhibitions at the ByHand Gallery in Bloomington, Indiana. Since 2010, she has been invited to showcase her work in over half a dozen galleries across the country and has garnered numerous awards for her artistic endeavors.
