Danielle Winger

Born in Reno, Nevada, Danielle Winger spent a good portion of her childhood moving throughout the country, which has informed her work. Her paintings, centered in landscape, are described through energetic, churning marks filled with mountains, fir trees, birches, and bodies of water, often on neon red grounds that peek through. Depicted at various times of day from deep in the night to high noon, these expressionistic, emotion-filled paintings about spaces as changeable as Winger’s childhood homes are anchored by their certainty and sense of joy—and inevitably, by the stability of knowing these locales can be repeatedly returned to.

Winger lives and works in Indianapolis, Indiana. She received a BS from Middle Tennessee State University and a MFA from East Tennessee State University. Winger is represented by Red Arrow Gallery in Nashville, TN, Visions West Contemporary in Denver, CO, and James May Gallery in Algoma, WI. Her work was recently featured in the Spring Break art fair in New York CIty, and is held in numerous private collections both nationally and internationally.
